The texts explain the American Dream as this fantasy that is real. It includes being rich and famous when this reality isn't real. My idea of the American Dream is going from where you are at now and improving to your greatest. Both mine and the texts concepts have something in common, and that's how beautiful this country really is.

It shows our true nature through the oath, which shows that anyone that is in this country and people that are coming to this country are ready and willing to defend the freedom that this country has fought so hard to obtain and keep. The American Beauty shows the true beauty of the land that we call home and it shows just how beautiful the land of the free really is. The New Colossus shows the American symbol of freedom. This is totally different from what I thought The America Dream was, I used to think that it was all about getting money and getting the newest things and the most innovative things out. But that is not it, it is about serving the country that has served us for so long.

The texts that we have read compare and contrast to my concept of the American Dream in multiple ways. In the article, Hollywood Dreams of Wealth, Youth, and Beauty it talks about how Hollywood movies made others picture realistic things such as, rivers flowing with milk or onions as big as wheelbarrows. The movies also don't show the hardships that many go through to become rich and famous. My concept is that as long you're putting effort and time into your work you will succeed. But movies just show how people magically become rich and famous.

The text that we have read compare and contrast with the concept of the American Dream in many different ways. Some text may make the American Dream sound all about money for example in the article Hollywood Dreams of wealth, beauty, and youth. This article makes the american dream sound like it is all about money and it is very easy to obtain. In other text and picture the topic stay on immigrants migrating to the US for freedom and getting away from the terrors of war and poverty.

The concept of the American Dream compares and contrast to the readings we have read, because It gives similar ideas in all the texts that we have read. All of them dealing with feeling proud/patriotic of your country. In my opinion, they don't really contrast that much.
