I liked the kahoot at the start of the lesson I think in a face to face lesson is a good way to get learners interest in the lesson.

Perhaps download the video and add it into your slides. It could help during face to face lessons so that you don’t struggle with connectivity issues, and it’s readily available.

The lesson was well done in terms of engaging the learners and asking learners questions. The digital tool that was used was awesome as I learned something new today by this tool being used and definitely something I would use in a classroom. Tool was a little confusing to access but that was a fault on my side. Good use of images to go with the content.

Introduction was well done. You spoke clearly, you were very motivating and bubbly during your slice which had me drawn to your lesson. I enjoyed the Kahoot as it was a great way to get learners interested and want to participate. I found it a bit of a mission to switch between two tabs to look at the question and then go to another tab to answer the question. The video you used, despite the sound being a problem was a great video as it explained the differences between the types of energy very well. I like that you did terminology in your introduction as this always helps learners grasp the meanings of words before proceeding to the teaching and learning phase. Loved the idea of the riddles too to start off your lesson.

I liked that you introduced your lesson with a quick video.
A quick quiz is a good way to gather an understanding of what your learners already know or do not know.
Your explanations of a pulley system was well done and I think grade 7s will be able to follow your lesson with ease.

Adding in some examples was a good touch after asking learners what they know of pulley systems in their daily life. Good job explaining vocabulary that learners may not understand.

Crossword labs is a good digital tool to use to ensure learners have understood to content and correct any misunderstandings they may have had.

Your slides were beautifully done and very eye catching. You made really good use of real life examples that will help learners differentiate between potential and kinetic energy. You elaborated really well on the content and in a way that grade 7 learners will be able to understand. I liked the interaction with the images and by asking the learners questions based on the images.

I really enjoyed your digital tool, its fun, interesting and a tool that grade 7 learner will really enjoy and you will be able to get all learners interested and involved. I think you chose I nice topic for this lesson that allows for great discussion on what affects population sizes.
However I think it would have been more beneficial to give us the country’s you would like us to research. Or have the information readily available in case learners in the face to face class room cannot access the internet.

Despite the technical issues we could tell you were prepared and knew your content. And had a good interactive tool to engage learners in the classroom.

- The lesson had an excellent and informative introduction. The video that you used was short and insightful. - I enjoyed your lesson as it was extremely inquiry based which forced the learners to be interactive and apply their own skills to build on the knowledge and content that you are sharing with them. You made use of good questions and good explanations.

- I think that it would have worked better and provided the learners with a better understanding of the content if you provided examples on the slides and related the examples to their lives (South African context).

- It was a good idea to make use of a Kahoot to test the prior knowledge that the learners have on the topic of Population from Grade 6. However, there was a bit of difficulty with regards to being able to access and play the Kahoot.

What does the teacher need to consider for the f2f lessons?
- The teacher needs to be mindful of having the learners use their cellphones within a face-to-face lesson to do research as not all schools allow cellphones and not all Grade 7 learners have access to a cellphone or data.

The lesson was presented very well. your voice projection was very good and I liked how motivating you were as that get learners wanting to answer and engage more. The video was quite informative even though there was a few technical errors.

The lesson went extremely well however i do think by downloading the video before hand could of made the lesson flow better and save you on time.

you lesson was presented really well, and I really enjoyed it. I liked how you used graphics to explain your content and the use of the simulator was quite fun and engaging. Lastly, your game at the end was quite fun and interactive.

Maybe you could have added a group activity for your simulator. Otherwise, I think the lesson was done well.

The tools you used were very creative and interactive and enhanced your explanation of the content.

For a f2f lesson maybe instead of using the simulator you could use actual objects.

the lesson was done well despite the technical issues. I really liked how you asked us a lot of questions which kept us engaged. I also liked the inquiry aspect of the lesson.

I think the lesson can be improved by having it more related to the southern hemisphere and you could also maybe do it in a group activity where by you give each group a country and then they do research and report it back to the class.

The idea of a quiz is great as it is quite fun and interactive.

For the f2f lesson maybe be mindful as to the availability of devices in your classroom and if the learners don't have devices maybe ask to go home and research and come with the research to school the next day.

Calvin presented a wonderful lesson. The CAPS focus and objectives were clear and present in the lesson. The online tool was used well to recap the lesson to see which learners were paying attention. It was interesting, fun, and engaging.

I love how you connected your content to a real-life South African context and supported this with relevant images. Connecting issues such as load-shedding to solar was a great way to keep learners alert and aware.

I also like that you ask for feedback and as if learners have any questions.

The video that was shared before you started the content was quite fast... I did not have enough time to read what was on it...

Also, I think it would help if you guided learners when you see that they are struggling with the quiz or asked what was confusing or difficult after the quiz to help them improve.

Keep this in mind for a face-to-face lesson.

I like that you gave us context about what you are going to be speaking about before you touched on the content. This was relevant and gave us direction.

The virtual tour was very creative and interesting. You really brought the topic to life. You also made the lesson suitable for the learners and used terms like "put your adventure hats on" This was fun and created excitement. This was a great tool to use in the lesson.

You also made great use of concept-checking questions to see if the learners are paying attention and know what is going on in the lesson.

Just make sure this is clear and maybe ask the learners if it is clear on their side because it was difficult to see... it was blurry on my side.

For a face-to-face lesson, just remember to make the content more engaging and interactive. The lesson was quite teacher-centered.

You explained your content/aims/objectives very well. It highlights your confidence in teaching and the subject you're teaching.

Just take note of using "ummmm and uhhh" during your lesson. Refrain from doing this.

I like that you used a variety of images and different types of graphs. It was also nice that you asked the learners for their input to test their prior knowledge while still introducing them to a new type of graph.

You also engaged well with the learners which created a large classroom interest which increased participation.
Also using a practical example and linking it to the content.

Just remember to highlight important questions such as further explaining graphs, where headings go, what lines need to be used etc.

Make use of a white board as well when teaching this lesson face-to-face.

I enjoyed how confident and smooth you spoke throughout the lesson, you weren't shy to define information and give extra content where needed. You had good slides with images and not over-content heavy, very well suited for the grade 7 age.

We, unfortunately, didn't see your online tool, which was sad, but I know due to time constraints this limited you.

One small thing you can take into consideration for online and f2f would just be to slow the speed at which you talk down just by a margin to allow for you to breathe and for students to keep up if they are taking down notes.

During your rationale, you explained your concepts and ideas of how you were going to run your lesson very well. This allowed us to gain an idea of what to expect.

In the lesson, it was wonderful to go on the tour with you and the demonstration of how we can use Google Earth as an interesting tool within the schooling environment. It was also very good the manner in which you got the students to engage by asking them questions and allowing them to engage and interact within the lesson.

You had lovely slides with good content on hand and we could see as the teacher you went above and beyond to ensure you explained more than what was on the slides to keep us engaged.

One area just to keep in mind when doing an online tour or use of visual images or tour, just check in with students to ensure their images are clear and that they can read them properly.

I believe for a f2f lesson this will be very interesting and can still be more engaging as long as you include the students and also try and include images from the past to show them the difference in the times.

Overall an extremely incredible History lesson.

It was good to see how you started your class by asking students for their prior knowledge of the content of non-renewable and renewable resources.

The way in which you used Google Earth was unique in its own way which allowed for students to get a real insight into wind energy and how it is created.

Was good to see when you had a slight difficulty with the link you had a quick solution that allowed for the lesson to still carry on.

For a f2f just make sure that you do have a backup idea or a way to teach the online tool part incase students don't have access to the internet or tablets.

In the lesson, I think the way that you went about with the content was very good. I loved that you used Google earth for your lesson and incorporated what we have learned at Uni. It gave the students a perfect idea of where the places were situated in the world.

My only concern what that by running to google earth and explaining why going from place was sometimes difficult to focus on two things at the same time. And a little time was also used when trying to make google earth work with you.

Your slides were beautiful and matched the content perfectly. Some photos of what those times actually looked liked would have been nice.

Your explanation skills were excellent and you can see that teaching does come naturally to you.

Lastly just with the word document that you wanted to access with the activity on, just make sure that is all prepped and ready when you need.

Your Rationale was good and I new what to expect with your lesson. Maybe you could have mentioned where your lesson fits into CAPS but the rest was very good.

The lesson itself I think was very very good. You taught well. The content that you choose was good but the tool that you decided to use made it really good. The use of Google earth was done really well and you used it to aid your teaching well.

You asked good questions in the beginning to see what the students knew already and you saw what they did not know in the beginning of the lesson.

A little attention could be spent on the way of your teaching. A little more enthusiasm when teaching. At times it did feel more like a lecture.

But even with your technical difficulties, you decided to still carry on and you at the end of the day, used it in your advantage. The use of google earth was excellent and it engaged all the students very well. The lesson became alive with google earth.

The video in the beginning was very impressive. It got me excited and engaged in the lesson as soon as it started.

I love that you made a comment about the Loadshedding, because that it something I think everyone can relate to, and that will make the students more engaged in the lesson because they can see that you relate to them.

You used very good probing question in the lesson and I loved the explanation that followed with the question.

The middle stage of the lesson was a bit content heavy, maybe some questions after each slide or the students input in some areas.

The tool that you used was very good. Would have loved more then just 5 questions. I know that time was against us but maybe atleast 2 more. And maybe also an explanation for the game before starting it, I did find myself confused at times.

Your rationale was excellently explained to the students. You plotted out perfectly what you were going to teach and spend time on. I also love the idea of you warning the learners that the content might be sensitive in the beginning because atleast the learners then know and wont be surprised.

Your way of teaching was very good and professional, and your slide show was amazing and it carried the theme of the content that you were teaching.

Your knowledge regarding the textbook was very very good. You knew exactly what was in the book and what was not. It really helped and guided your lesson.

The lesson was a bit content heavy, maybe a few more questions or engagement times with the learners would have been nice.

Good idea to get a student to read the definition, but would be nice if that happened more.

The history tour was a great idea on google earth, it would have related a bit more if you had some pictures of the actual environment and era that you talked about to give us a visual idea of what it looked like during that specific time in history. We saw what it looks like at the moment which does not relate to the topic at hand.
