It makes logical sense that we all come from a set group of organisms that popped up first. From this group, genetic variation and reproduction took place in a way that we have evolved to create many different species. However, since we still came from the same life source there will be similarities. Not only this, but all organisms have a common goal of surviving by consuming food and reproducing, so we are all going to share traits that relate to those attributes.

However, f the organism has a mutation, it can also possibly pass down the mutation to It's offspring just like the other possible characteristics.

All living organisms on Earth share a common ancestry. Over millions of years, small changes accumulated in populations of organisms, leading to the emergence of new species. These changes occurred through genetic mutations, genetic recombination, and natural selection. Therefore, similarities can be observed among different organisms because they share a common genetic heritage. The environment plays a crucial role in shaping the characteristics of organisms. Natural selection favors traits that increase an organism's chances of survival and reproduction in a particular environment. Different environments exert different selection pressures, leading to adaptations specific to those conditions. Thus, organisms can exhibit variations and adaptations that make them well-suited to their specific habitats.
