BIRTH AND CHILDHOOD

My name is Kiziah L. Tapayan. I was born in Mandaue City, Cebu, on December 13, 2002. My name was supposed to be spelled out as "Kezia", inspired from the daughter of Job in the Bible. Unfortunately, a clerical error occurred. As a result, I have to live with the misspelled name. In my childhood years, one of my considered struggle is to wake up early to do household chores. Of course as a child, I only want to think about playing and I really hate waking up early to do chores. At a young age, my parents started to train us to do things on our own for us to survive by ourselves. As far as I can remember, I started to do the laundry and cook food when I was only in grade three. Back then, I also struggled being an outcast. Even though I make lots of friends, I was never treated by them as their "main friend". As some may say, I'm just like the "background friend". Anyway, I still find fun with myself by doing the things I love such as singing and playing the ukulele.

I have a big family. We are six in total. I have a sister and two brothers. Having many siblings, is a life full of endless fights in food, chores, and attitude problems. My mother used to be a school principal but due to the pandemic, the school stopped its operations and now she is a full-time housewife. On the other hand, I have a father who is a very business minded person. He sells different foods while doing deliveries. He is also a "habal-habal" driver in our place. Growing up, I got to experience life the hard way. But nevertheless, it is just bearable because of God. Since, we are not a rich family, I learned to be grateful and contented with whatever life gives me. Moreover, I became independent as a result to my parents training of us when I was young. Aside from that, I am a family-oriented person. Every summertime and during special occasions, we get to spend it in my grandparents house together with my family and relatives. Lastly, I was raised in a Christian family. Though, there were lots of restrictions and different practices, yet, I can say, that it is the best.

In this phase of my life, I'm still adjusting. I'm still exploring myself to get to know me more. I'm not rushing things out. For the meantime, I'm more conscious of my well-being. Unlike before, I have now a small circle of friends because I'm surrounding myself with people who have plans in their lives, and, most importantly, people that can help me become a better person. I guess the achievement I'm currently proud of, is my character development. I think being able to reflect with my actions, and master my reactions or attitude towards a situation, is a great deal. I believe that having that kind of behavior is essential in life. And to tell you, not all people possess that ability even though they are at their old age. As I grew older, I learned to prioritize and focus on things that matter. Along with that, I strive to improve daily because I want to be someone who is effective, efficient, and competent at what they do.

LIFE EXPERIENCES

Few years ago, I suffered from depression, and the root cause of it was insecurity. It was a terrible experience, but, when I found my security in Christ, everything just changed. That's why, for me, the most important relationship I have in life, is my relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This relationship I have with Him, has defined me as a Christian—who was once lost, but now found. Since then, I've been a recipient of God's grace and love. And I ought to extend that to others, too. As I look back, I can testify of God's changing power and His realness in my life. I know I may sound religious or cringe to some, but, all I can say is, what a great joy is it to be a Christian. This I say, from the bottom of my heart, "nindot ang Christian life"!

I envision myself as a teacher who is effective, efficient, and competent in teaching. Beyond that, I want to establish an orphanage someday. It has always been my dream to do so. But my ultimate goal for now, is to graduate, to get to work with love, and finally, to give back to my parents for they deserve it. As I prepare myself today, I pray that no matter what tomorrow has in store for me, I will be where and what God wants me to be. Only by His Grace.
