He was trying to be nice, but she was being rude to him. When she left for the train, she had realized that the cookies were in her bag and she had been stealing his cookies and she broke his last cookie that he gave to her for a genuine purpose. She realized that she should've been nicer even if it was hers. She should've been nicer.
