This would have affecred them very badly. And they probably would have not colonized there. The French would have just gone around and colonized somewhere else. If the French never came to Canada then it would have been a different place. We would not have to learn French.

I think they may have still colonized, but they for sure wouldn't have spent any time on hunting beavers and New France would be poor. Seeing as the beaver hats costed around triple what one of Champlain's men made in one year, New France would not have gotten nearly as much income to help colonize. There may even be a chance of them not colonizing, seeing as majority of the money came from selling the beaver pelt hats.

If beaver pelts weren't wanted, France would have no reason to go to New France and they would stop going there in an instant. New France wouldn't have been colonized quickly and France wouldn't bother expanding their territory and just stay in one place. Plus, even if France didn't stay in New France, the British would've taken that opportunity and made that place theirs in the end.

I think that if there wasn't a demand for beaver pelts France would have still colonized new France eventually. if there wasn't a demand for beaver pelts France would still go for the fish, resources and land; there was still money to be made from the amount of resources like timber, ore etc and plenty of fish to have. Even if they didn't want the fish or resources they still would have gone

just for the land; most empires are more powerful with more land, so France would have came to Canada just to claim the land for themselves. They may not have colonized it as fast but they would eventually from fear that the Spanish or English would try to steal it if no one was there. In short this would only slow down colonization of new France but not stop it completely.

If there was no fashion demand for beaver pelts and furs in Europe, I believe that people living in Europe would've had no interest in going, to what is now, Canada, and therefore, no interest in colonizing the land. Europeans might still have been curious and wanted to go explore, or maybe still colonize the country just to claim more land, and for more resource, (the French could still have made money without beavers), but the main reason was for trading and to teach the First Nations people about souls/religion. The French mainly went for the high fashion demand, and beaver pelts were only found in New France, so that is why Champlain wanted to be friends with the First Nations peoples; so they could trade. Therefore, the French would have most likely not gone to New France if it weren’t for fashion purposes, and the land would not have been colonized right away, because people would not have cared as much about the land if it weren't for the beaver pelt and fur, but there was still a possibility, because there were other resources

I believe that if the beaver was not present in Quebec the French would have little to no interest in the area. The beaver pelt was by far the most profitable commodity that was exported from Quebec. The exorbitant price of beaver pelts even garnered enough attention that some of the poorer French men chose to immigrate to New France in order to generate a more substantial income through selling them. Had there not been beaver's the area would not be economically viable due to the harsh climates and minimal interest of French peoples in populating the area. However, France may have stayed their presence in Quebec regardless due to the fact that France sought any way in which they might outdo the English and their far more prolifically populated settlements in North America.
