I would have pushed for the amendment and gone to the lengths that he did to make sure that it was possible. As lincoln pushed for the amendment he risked a lot and in the end all those risks he took paid off when the 13th Amendment was passed. I would have done the same thing because everyone should be free, not made a slave just because they have a different skin color. If he had wanted until the end of the war then it would certain that the amendment wouldn't pass, meaning that slaves wouldn't be free, but since he didn't wait and pushed there is now no more slavery in the United States.
