Story Chain (Spontaneous/ Rule-Light)

1.     Divide the class into small groups or pairs, depending on the size of the class.

2.     The prompt “Once, I ” is given to each group. Each person within the group adds three sentences, building a story. Repeat for three rounds.

3.     Once each group has built a story, the group presents its story to the class.

4.     The class then discusses how cohesive each story was, and what elements contributed to cohesion.

5.     Then the class creates a final story together using the prompt : “Once, when I was at the beach”, which each person adds one line.

6.     The class then discusses how cohesive the story was, and what could have helped build cohesion within the story.
