I am using this as my resource for Janine's dad. I thoroughly recommend parents to give " love bombing" a try. The book recommends setting aside a weekend... but I just do one whole day with my son where he gets to choose and plan the whole day... he can eat whatever he likes and do whatever he chooses. Surprisingly children seem to make pretty reasonable choices. Parents need to turn off mobile phones and put them away for the entire time. Photographs of Margot, her family, her transitional object, and her daily schedule, including photographs of her doing her favourite activities at the childcare centre. She is after all only 2 years old. An important aspect of this resource is that it sows the seeds of self soothing ( Porter, insert date). When Margot misses her Mum/Dad she can hug her ....(transitional object). Her Mum/Dad will always come back to pick her up after bla de bla. I struggled with separation anxiety as a child starting school... and my eldest son  had some difficulties too with childcare. My youngest son had a different experience and disposition and was always glad to get away from me!! I did consciously set out to do things differently with my youngest son.

Teacher can scaffold/ model walking around asking the students if they have a pet - dog, cat or other- with Bertie assisting in the data collection and questioning.
