READY TO LEARN:Students are expected to be ready to learn. Students will come to class prepared to be active participants. Students are responsible of their own choices and will have the opportunity to reflect on their choices and their mindset. This reflection will allow students to develop personal growth. Students will also be able to create both academic and personal goals that can help them grow as individuals. The teacher will be able to facilitate this process and help students figure out what personal goals they have and ways to obtain those goals.
MAKE MISTAKES:
Students are encouraged to have a growth mindset. Students are encouraged to make mistakes and reflect on those mistakes in order to grow from them. Students are encouraged to be proud of their mistakes and share them to the class in case another student is making that same mistake. We will look at learning as a process where it can take various steps to reach our goals. Students will learn from one another or through teacher's guidance to reach their end goal.
High Expectations:
Teacher will have, "high expectations [of all students, this] does not mean teachers having the same expectations of all students." (Cassetta & Sawyer, 2015)

Students are encouraged to bring their cultural knowledge into the classroom as learning is a process that happens collaboratively. This can happen in the beginning of the day as a check-in or as a quick-write. Also, I will have concept check-ins where students can reflect on concepts we are learning. An example is, "show me a one finger if you feel like this concept is still unclear", "show me five fingers if you feel like you understand the concept and feel confident," this will help me survey the class as a whole on what I need to do to help my students.

Growing up (even occasionally today) I was afraid of "failure." I have been conditioned to believe that if you make a mistake, you are not "good enough." Through learning about the growth mindset I believe that we can change this ideology and help our students understand that mistakes are part of the learning process. This philosophy will influence the way that I teach as I will encourage my students to make mistakes and learn from them. Students will be encouraged to share their ideas and explain them. Students are encouraged to share mistakes that way we can address them and help students ,who are also struggling, feel like they are not alone. This will allow a classroom space where students are encouraged to grow collaboratively and understand that they have the abilities to succeed. In accessing and evaluating student work, I will look at the student's thinking process rather than the answers that way I can help identify student's needs. By addressing student needs I can cater my lesson plans to support student success.
