The La Riots were a response to 4 LAPD officers being acquitted in the beating of an African American Motorist, Rodney King. The videotaped incident showed police brutality and caused racial tension. The riot lasted 6 days, with looting, fires, and destruction. It was a very violent riot.

Tupac Releases "Changes" 1998(Recorded in 1992)

Tupac recorded the hit song changes in 1992 to address social and political issues and the struggles, the discrimination, the poverty ,and police brutality, African Americans have faced in the United States. The lyrics in the song show his frustration with how African Americans are being treated and the lack of progression as a country.

Menace ll Society was written to give a look on an average life of a young African American man, and the challenges that he goes through. With violence and socioeconomic(well-being) challenges. This movie takes place in Watts, Los Angeles. The purpose is to bring light to the reality of inner city life and the circle of violence that is hard to escape. For example, a circle of violence that is hard to escape relates to Rodney King and the brutality and violence he faced. The goal for this movie and many others were to get people to start talking about the issues with racism and police brutality, and get people to start the dialogue.

Reaching at cars and air conditioners. The touches of red represent violence; the black and white figures represent racial tension; red, white, and blue strokes represent patriotism.

During the riots, Koreans posted up on top of their stores with guns to prevent them from being looted. This added tension between African Americans and Korean people for later years to come. The killing of 15 year old Latasha Harlins also added more tension between Koreans and blacks.

The killing of George Floyd was a continuation of the long journey African Americans have been fighting for. Social injustice and police brutality. After this incident many athletes in sports protested with the people in our communities to stand for social justice. After the incident, more companies started incorporating more African Americans in their commercials.

Obama being eleceted gave us a feeling of hope. It gave us something to keep fighting for. It gave us joy and a step forward in our journey for racial inequality.
