What are our initial thoughts about our Spin Off Topic?

I believe that it is a fun task which brings out collaboration with the whole group. I also thought that it was very hard to come up with initial ideas as many of our ideas contradicted each other and therefore too a long time to figure our our solution. These ideas were mainly influenced by the ads we saw and the confliction of the theme and mood we wanted the setting to be on. Cyrus said we should do a formal info graphical video on a product, while niccolo had many ideas ranging from a card game to hoodies to comfort people in need. This drastic confliction of moods needed to be settled and therefore as a team, it was decided that it would be infographic with innovative designed which lead to the product of EDU vision.

What do we still need to know or find out?

We need to find out whether we are going to pick one of our two solutions. A VR headset that comes with comforting jumper or a card game.

How can we find this information? Person, survey, internet, experts etc

I believe that we can communicate to further discuss on whether we would like to have the VR head set or the card game. We also made AI personal generator to find optimal aspects of other people that may want to use our product and to put ourselves into their shoes in which I believe was beneficial as this intrigued and led to new ideas to suit the customers needs.

What is most intriguing about this topic?

The most intriguing thing about resilience and to grow from mistakes is that many young people our self have experienced. This makes us the target audience and can perceive what we would like our self to grow and therefore could base our solution based on that.

What am I most concerned about (either this topic or Spin Off in general).

I am most concerned with the video making process of the task as it is the area that we lack our skills of. I can edit however I am not too skilled at it and therefore makes our videos a weak point when making our advertisement.

Where did our group do really well in the Spinoff task?

I believe that I did a good job in acting with the editing being a well done job. Both voice overs were nice. Overall I believe that the spin off went really well.

What improvements would we make if we had the opportunity to do the task again?

The silence between scenes can be cut or a sound track could have been played throughout the silence. I believe that it was about 5 seconds of silence although when presenting Infront of the class it felt a lot longer.

What Elements of Collaboration were successful?

Collaboration between the team was very good as we agreed on lots of things as the video was planned. These idea of the scenes were carefully imaged in all of our heads leading to a very efficient collaboration and rate of work throughout the task.

What improvements could have been made in terms of Collaboration?

An improvement that could have been made is the lack of communication between our group members when sending video footage through to edit. This was a problem as the editor, Niccolo allegedly did not receive many of the scenes recorded making our video shorter than expected. I also believe that the collaboration between our group could have been improved as many of the ideas thought within the group was shut down and opposed and so what the group decided on is what idea had the least amount of flaws and most amount of effectiveness. I believe we could have improved by adding on the ordinal ideas in stead of going for a new one as the trial and error method was very time consuming.

What Persuasive Techniques did we use? How effective were these? What evidence do I have of this?

We used various persuasive techniques such as Pathos and Ethos mainly as our video was very emotional with me trying to focus on work. This was largely influenced on the Ikea ads in which the setting was very dark and gloomy and the silence was impactful although in the end this resulted in it being very awkward.

For collaboration, I believe that we had a very strong aspect in engaging in conversation. Each lesson, our group participated and immersed our self's into finding the best idea for the product. An example of this is when our group got in an engaging conversation on deciding the final solution to the problem. I also belive the quality of conversation can be improved on in our group. One of our group member did not take many words to account and had many different views on the assessments task and the solutions that was came up on. This problem was fixed as the final solution was mainly decided on through what most of the group agreed on.

Actively participates to maintain a conversation with others Which i believe was demonstrated very well throughout the spin off lessons. I believe that we can improve with having even more conversations as well as conversations that are more efficient in communicating ideas across the group. This can lead to an even better collaboration within the group due to the fact that many ideas can be expressed and changed to fit the perfect solution for the problem.

Outcome greater than individual parts

For the second element of collaboration, I believe that Outcome greater than individual parts was done very well and effective throughout the group. This can be seen when all of our collaboration and communication was met and therefore with a diverse range of ideas throughout the group therefore new ideas were born which could have not happened without the collaboration therefore the element outcome greater than individual parts.

Being inclusive: I think that I, personally, was very inclusive of each member in my group, for example, at the beginning, i didn't know Cyrus well enough but since he was in our group and we needed to work together, when we were brainstorming for the mind map, I also asked for Cyrus' opinion on the ideas that we came up with and also what would he like to add to it. With such, I think that I've been kind and considerate of others' perspective on certain things in the task as well as giving my own ideas around it. I also believe that we, as a whole group, also strived to incorporate the diverse perspectives that each of our best ideas, or at least some parts of it hold in contributing to the group. I do think that we could work towards affirming to all perspectives and considering how it might affect certain details, but I am proud that we did take a first step towards it by taking our ideas and brainstorming for new concepts through them

Self awareness: I think that i displayed this throughout the assessment by taking responsibilities for my own performance as well as appreciating the contributions made by others and not thinking that I was the only one that did most of the work. I do think that I could have worked better towards valuing other's contributions as, at one point, we were arguing about who had to do the most work and who could have done better instead of improving together to support each others

Creates outcome better with others compared to their individual parts.

This is what i believe that we are standing on as my contribution to the group was i believe very fair as I believe i did approximately 1/4 of the groups work. Whether this may be acting, Directing or making scenes through the spin off video, I believe that without the help of my teammates, The outcome would not be as high of standards. Throughout the task each person had a role that they fulfilled. This may be on editing, contributing to ideas and research and therefore because of all the collaboration that our team had, i believe the result was vastly higher than work compared to their individual parts.

During the early stages of the script, there was a problem in which some people did not agree to certain project ideas, This however, was concluded by me and Cyrus and this idea was finalized. I believe that we can improve this by having better communication within the group to further enhance the final product produced.

The grade given for the spin off project was good as I received an A- this however, could have been improved by music as the silence was very long. Many ads that we observed had many background music or had a theme in which it engaged many audiences around. Such as the ikea ads which although had many silences it had intense moments in which the silence helped. This was not the case for our video as our video was more leaned towards informational aspects therefore the silence did not contribute to the overall mood and therefore made it awkward. This can be helped by background music, a shorter time of silence and/or adding more special effects to engage in the audience more. As this spinoff project video was made in less than 2 weeks, The editing done was very rushed and not complex to draw the audience in further. The overall editing was meant to be like a hologram although due to the limited time the hologram was not as complex as I would have liked it.

For creative and critical thinking, I picked Being open minded as this was implemented all throughout the lessons as we discussed. This is important as it influences the destion and creative ideas that we came up for as being open minded allowed us to accept the pros of the ideas suggested. This however was not the case most times as many of the ideas created was criticized of its flaws and effectiveness.

I believe we were open to new ideas as the final product was a combination of my idea of VR and Cyrus's idea of the product being an education took to help the kids in need. This idea was originated from my creative and critical thinking of this being a VR head set of what scenario it could have been.

Acting creatively

Acting creatively was used very minimally as our ideas were very obvious. This however was ok as the practicality was very good as I believe EDU vision is an efficient and practical of studying.

Goes with a safe and obvious approach

I believe although it is a safe and obvious approach It is never done before in the innovative field therefore I believe it is creative enough.

For Communication, I believe it is Engaging with partnerships I picked this as I believe I had a very strong partnership with Cyrus and Lhakpa as we had many shared views and communication was very easy. For engaging partnerships with Niccolo however, it was somewhat hard to communicate as many of our team members were not expressing and practicing the full capabilities of being open minded.

Interacts with partnerships when there is an opportunity I believe this is the criteria that best fits me when communicating with my teammates. Whenever we have a chance to talk and communicate on about the task I take as Communication is a very Impactful part. I would improve on

Presenting information

Personally I think that our video was very good because of the way we presented our video. For the most part it was engaging with Lhakpa and my acting in addition to Cyrus's voice-over. The way we presented our information was fairly good as we used many Persuasive techniques such as Pathos when describing the scene where it is inefficient studying long hours. Pathos was used and inspiration was borrowed from the Ikea lamp Advertisement where the Lamp was sad.

Can persuade, engage or hold interest of an audience

I believe that is the criteria we are in as multiple persuasion techniques were used as well as when we presented, peers came and reported that it was interesting. I believe that we could improve presenting information by expanding on technical skills such as editing to further enhance viewers expectations.

Which of your ideas will you be going with?

Our two ideas, Focus flow and life sync, we were able to find two ideas on the targeting problem, phone addiction. our solution focus flow was rushed due to the fact that one of our members was absent for a week. However our other solution life sync originated from my idea of shocking electricity to people for discipline although modifications were made to make our current solution, life sync.

Do you agree with the feedback that you received Why? Why Not?

Yes, i do agree with the feed back as Life sync was a better choice however, I do like the app idea and therefore would like to implement it in future tasks

Which of the 5C’s do you feel you and your group struggled with the most? Why is this and what could you do differently?

I feel like we struggles with Creative thinking as the product is very bland as though it is a good idea, it is not very original. I feel like we should have gone with a more innovative idea as this wristband is an inconvenience to many however, I believe there will be select few people who will benefit from this

What improvements, changes and tweaks do you need to make before INNOV8 EXPO on Tuesday 20th June?

We need to improve on our presentation skills as well as developing posters. Posters i think will be a very beneficial implementation to our visual presentation.

What have you gained from this experience?

I have gained key skills such as confidence in speaking to others and increasing my sales skills. These skills improve in communication as clear speaking skills are very important when presenting ideas as well as not stuttering during speech. The stuttering was a very big problem as the recording of our previous task was hard to do as well as having issues with presenting during our expo. The understanding of the problem led me to fix this issue as after our first presentation to the customers, I practiced improving my speech without looking at the paper and without stuttering.

How has Action Project developed your understanding of the 5Cs?

Participating in the Action Project has significantly enhanced my understanding of the 5Cs: communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and citizenship. My communication skills have improved through regular presentations allowing me to express ideas clearly and effectively. Collaboration has been strengthened by working in teams, fostering mutual respect and shared goals. Creativity has flourished as I explored innovative solutions to complex problems. Critical thinking has been improved by analysing data and evaluating different perspectives. Overall, the project has provided a comprehensive platform to develop these essential skills, preparing me for future academic and professional challenges.

How can you use the skills developed in Action Project in other areas of your life / in the future?

The skills developed in the Action Project, such as communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking, are valuable for future workplaces and overall life skills. Effective communication and collaboration will enhance teamwork in various settings, while creativity and critical thinking will help aid in problem-solving and innovation. The knowledge gained will guide future experiences by providing strong new challenges and opportunities and ensuring professional growth.

What challenges did you face in this course, and how did you overcome them? Were any of your personal Character Strengths a benefit or did you have to stretch your lesser strengths, explain how.

A challenge that I personally faced during this expo is the nerve to speak to others overcoming social challenges and presenting the product while not stuttering. Throughout the presentations, Signs of nervousness slipped through such as red ears and lightheadedness leading to further brain slip ups. Overall however, I believe the group performed well especially with Cyrus’s leading performance with confident speaking.

How have you developed as a learner throughout this course?

Throughout this course, I have developed as a learner by enhancing my skills in self-directed learning, critical communication skills, and adaptability. I can apply these skills to other learning experiences by independently seeking information, evaluating sources critically, and adjusting to new challenges. Reflecting on my character strengths, I have become more aware of my resilience and curiosity, which have driven my growth. This awareness has enabled me to further improve my communication skills.

What have you gained from this course at a personal level?

I have become more aware of the personal skills of resilience and communications skills in which I have honed through the practice of pitching and overcoming speech challenges.

Before the New and improved logo was made, a logo was made by me and was voted to not be used as a final product. This is due to the lack of simplicity and the feed back was that it was not "appealing" and therefore was not used as a final.
