I have learned so much from my colleagues in my years as a teacher. They are people to bounce ideas off of, borrow ideas from and people to engage in discourse around new and innovative ideas that can keep my practice relevant and fresh for my students.

Teachers never stop learning. I make a point of staying current by reading at least 2 professional resources a year, along with lots of research and reading online. It's a bonus when there's an opportunity for a book club at my school, which happens every 2 years.

The professionals in my board put out some really great workshops throughout the year and I take part in at least 2 per year. I usually walk away with a few good ideas from each one, more if it was a really informative and well-planned session.

Developing PD within the school is another way to keep learning. Finding something that one is passionate about, like robotics, or math, and trying some new approaches in your classroom can be modelled and demonstrated for other teachers. Taking leadership within the school, such as taking a math lead role, keeps us learning and growing.
