Likewise, to form, they incorporate line, shape, value, color, texture, and space. As an Element of Art, form implies something that is three-dimensional and encases volume, having length, width, and height, versus shape, which is two-dimensional, or flat. A form or structure is a shape in three dimensions, and, similar to shapes, can be geometric or natural. Another thing that I learned is that sculpture might be described in relative terms as closed or open forms. Based from my previous readings that I found in the internet and on the readings that our teacher provided closed structure has a comparative feeling to the conventional type of a strong opaque mass. Regardless of whether spaces exist inside the form, they are contained and confined. A closed form or structure has an internal coordinated focus on the form, itself, separated from ambient space.
