Everyone begins on the green colour at the beginning of the day. Children who strive to make ‘good choices’ through the day are rewarded by moving their names up to blue. More ‘good choices’ lead up to the top colour — purple, which merits a reward e.g. a sticker at the end of the day. 

Undesirable behaviour is called a ‘poor choice’ and children are given chances and warnings before their names are moved down to yellow and red. The children loved having the ownership of their activity — making the playdough and experimenting ways on how to achieve the texture that’s ‘just right’. Having a white and plain based playdough was a helpful decision as it enabled them to be more imaginative and resourceful with what they can do with it. We used some clear decal to wrap around a table’s legs and tipped it over to bring a different kind of ‘writing board’. So far the children love it and they really enjoy the idea of seeing and comparing different marks with their friends.
