The purpose of Greenpeace's establishment is divided into two reasons. Originally, it was launched to oppose nuclear testing.
It is said that it has become famous as a whale protection group.

Greenpeace's first purpose of establishment is to protect animals. They are doing some campaigns and rescue activities for animals that are in danger due to global warmings such as polar bears, turtles, and any other animals.

The second reason why Greenpeace was founded is to oppose nuclear testing. Greenpeace has done many campaigns since June 2011 which are related to nuclear power phase-out. The only way to go nuclear power phase-out is to stop all plans to install new nuclear power plants. Greenpeace has been working steadily toward the phase-out of nuclear power in Korea since 2011, warning about safety issues that are incompatible with nuclear power plants.

In July 2013, After the Greenpeace group sat on the Gwangan Bridge for 52 hours, the Busan City Council decided to expand the emergency planning zone from 5km to 20km. Also, in September 2016, a lawsuit was filed to cancel the construction permit for Singori Units 5 and 6. On the first trial day, the 560 people's litigation group was established.
