Good morning, my name is Lucy O’Rourke. I was born in, and now live on the lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation - an area of which is also bounded by the Dharag Nation. I am continuing to develop my relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and will continue to recognise the importance of this relationship. Growing up in areas of the inner-west of Sydney, going to school and playing sport, I have built connections with many Indigenous peoples with differing cultures, including primary school teachers and friends, something of which I am incredibly grateful for. I am here today to take part in my journey of self-reflection and learning that will allow me to practise cultural safety, not only in my health career, but also do my part to enact change and create a better future for all.
