The apple could symbolize the community as a whole because apples are nice and perfect, except when you get on the inside. There are some parts to the apple that are bad, and over time the bad stuff on the inside can rot even more and cause it to ruin the perfect figure of the apple on the outside. In this memory Jonas is on a sled on top of a mountain with snow falling on him, then he goes down the mountain, and he finds it very exciting and then he finds out what all of the words the receiver said in his story were. In the second memory it is about sunshine, were Jonas is outside and he suddenly feels this warm and comforting gust of sunlight shine down on him and without being told he finds the answer.
