SSD (Solid state drive) - This is a faster option than the hard drive but normally has a much lower capacity but this is made up for in the greatly increased speeds. 
M.2 SSD- This new SSD plugs directly into the motherboard increasing the speed of the SSD further! Thus you will have roughly the same amount of storage as an SSD but with much more speed. This is show in the price of the product.
