In this book it focuses on Malala and women's struggles in Swat. Malala is a young teenage girl that loves school but many people believe that women should not be educated. Malala is upset by this and speaks out. Because she speaks what she thinks about this issue she is targeted by the Taliban and attacked on her way home from school. Even though she is left severely injured and is barely able to speak and move she doesn't let that get to her. She continues to get better and keeps speaking out and campaigning. Malala is now a important activist in today's world.

In Saudi Arabia, Women rights are limited if any. Just like most of countries in the middle east, the strict interpretation of Islamic law and the laws of Saudi forbid women to many things. According to CNN, women cannot marry, divorce, travel or get a job or get a surgery without permission. They also do not get a fair hearing in court because "two women's testimony equal one mans." Recently, Saudi Arabia lifted the ban on women driving. Before they were the only country with a ban on women driving. They keep women incarcerated for protesting against the law of the country. According also to CNN, women activists were also tortured and sexual harassed while being detained for activision. Saudi Arabia is also seeking the death penalty on women activists, while Saudi Arabia has the highest execution rates of any country. The person who would be put to death participated in the arab springs protests, according to CBSnews. A crackdown on protesters happened weeks before the ban being lifted on driving. Most of the protesters will be charged with non-violent charges but will punished severely. They would be tried in a counter-terrorist court.
Sources used:
https://www.cnn.com/2017/09/27/middleeast/saudi-women-still-cant-do-this/index.html
https://news.un.org/en/story/2018/10/1023022
https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/21/middleeast/saudi-arabia-detainee-abuse-claim-intl/index.html
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/rights-groups-fear-peaceful-activism-could-now-cost-saudi-women-their-lives/

My name is Malala and I am very upset about the fact that women are not being treated well in Saudi Arabia. Women should not be treated how they are. We should be able to have basic human rights such as traveling, marrying who we want, and get a job. As humans these are rights we deserve and should have. When women are punished for small things such as leaving the house without a male family member it is dehumanizing and humiliating. These women do not deserve to be humiliated like they are being. We need to speak out and stop this cruel treatment.
