One thing I've learned from the article is that the cost of treating obesity is huge. The medical cost of treating obesity is $600 million in 2014, and expecting to increase to $1.6 trillion in 2025. This surprises me as I do not expect so much cost needed to treat obesity.
Another thing is that I'm now aware of World Obesity Day on October 11, which I did not know about until today.
The percentage of obesity rate in Singapore will increase overall, with male population having a larger increase as compared to the female population. The obesity rate is 31.7 per cent for men and 21.2 per cent for women in 2014. By 2025, the percentages are estimated to increase to 36.5 per cent for men and 21.7 per cent for women, according to the World Obesity Federation.
