The Foreshadowing Warning of The Death of the Avengers through Tony Stark's Vision.

As mentioned in the collaborative infographic, Foreshadowing is a form of narrative wherein hints or warnings are placed for an upcoming event to take place. It can either be very obvious or indirect or obscure. Furthermore, foreshadowing does not precisely give away what will happen. In this case, the foreshadowing of the Avenger's Death Scene does not show who, why, how, when, and where it happens which is a vital trait of this particular epic convention.

Comparing this to how the armies in the Trojan War in the Iliad have their destinies set in place by the god - Zeus, this death scene does not directly depict how and why this fate upon the Avengers happens. Instead, the scene is set at Avengers: Age of Ultron (2nd Movie) and focuses on Tony's greatest nightmare come to life - fearing that he will heavily regret not doing anything at all to save not just the Avengers, but the entire Marvel universe.

In addition, it somehow directly foreshadows the events of Avenger's Endgame (3rd Movie) but at the same time indirectly foreshadows the tragedy that will occur if Tony does not come up with something prior to this mysterious alien invasion upon earth and it's mightiest heroes. It really opens up the audience's thoughts and sparks curiosity as to why Tony has his fears, who could bring such a disastrous event, how each of the Avengers die, when will this exact event occur, and where will be this apocalyptic event take fold.

The Epic Battle of Thanos Versus The Three Avengers: Thor, Captain America, & Iron Man.

I think that the epic convention of Epic Battle that depicts a brutally detailed fight between two parties perfectly encapsulates this scene in Avengers Endgame. In the beginning of this scene, it emphasises the gravity and tension of battle that the three Avengers would eventually face. Moreover, there is even dialogue exchanged between Thanos and the Avengers regarding their polar opposite views of achieving peace in the universe.

Comparing this to the Epic Battles as seen in the Iliad, the battle scene shows each of the warrior's rage, skill, and power much like what is seen on multiple face-offs in the Trojan War. In addition, I really find it so amusing to witness the intensity of the battle and the extreme violence in the fight. There are scenes wherein the convention of epic battle really shines light to the narrative of the story.

To name specific scenes in the fight: Thor summons the Stormbreaker (Axe) and the Mjölnir (Hammer) to prepare for battle, Iron Man using his technology to absorb Thor's lightning blast to charge his own laser beams, and Thanos exhibiting his brute strength which knocks Iron Man unconscious, almost kills Thor, and man-handles Captain America. Finally, a scene where the most unexpected occurred which set the bar for the heroic and monumental event in the whole Avengers Trilogy - Captain America wielding the Mjölnir seemingly out of nowhere and using all of it's powers to fight the Mad Titan.

The Heroic Values of the Tony Stark

In a heroic epic, traditions and beliefs are built which the hero of the story embodies. Joseph Campbell defined heroism as “someone who has given his life to something greater than himself or other than himself.” With this in mind, the heroes of the avengers have suited themselves into full-service for the common good which is to protect the universe from catastrophes from unknown civilizations. Initially, the film centers on pop-culture wherein heroes can represent opportunities for exploration and identification in the most comfortable manner for the viewer. However, performance characteristics and cultural norms are vital in establishing the ideal hero.

In the Iliad, I have observed that the heroes are determined by their capacity to persuade the masses into boosted morals, prowess and skills in battle, and the ability to resolve and unravel dire situations. In books 1-18, Akhilleus, the champion and stubborn warrior of the Akhaians; Odysseus, a wise and entrusted commander of the Akhaians; and Agamemnon, the wisest warrior and commander of them all, have resembled these qualities of a hero. Each character initially is different from the other. However, the center quality of these greatest heroes is their participation in protecting life in their cities. These heroes have dedicated their lives to the ultimate service so that the legacy of their names and traditions can remain in this world forever.

Similarly, the Avengers have dedicated their lives to the protection of the universe from unknown invasions. The participation of each hero centers on protecting and securing the lives of their loved ones as well as the common good. Tony Stark, Ironman, is the one of the best examples of this participation. Stark is known to have a weak heart from a war which was replaced by a chest-plate that embodies his persona as Ironman. Despite Stark’s traumas, he continued to be at the forefront of his career, family, and the world. Moreover, Stark’s success enabled him to expand his knowledge and innovations as well as mentor individuals into righteousness, in this case, Peter Parker, Spiderman. This ultimate dedication to service and protection constitutes his legacy as a hero.

When reading the Iliad or watching the Avengers, the question that pops in my head is; How far can my participation reach? Comparing reality to the realm of literature and media can be excruciating because of limitations of what is real and imaginary. However, these limitations should not stop the person form expanding life into a legacy. With self-control and extreme diligence, the sense of fulfillment each person is dire to attain will then be rewarded in the simplest way.

Captain America's Long, Formal Speeches: The Peace Before Battle

War waits for no man. Throughout history, it is known that in war, we lose more than we gain. Countless lives are lost in a short span of time, yet it makes one wonder. In the heat of the battle, how can a man fight the urge of self-preservation and just leave the fight altogether? Well, aside from soldiers knowing the fight was bigger than them, and that they serve a greater purpose—It also helps when someone of authority motivates them before a fight.

The Avengers are our modern-day epics, not only do they embody the grandeur of monumental battles and inspiring heroes, but they also show an accurate depiction of what happens before and after the fight. Those moments of calm, including the motivational speeches a commander gives to his soldiers. The time or place doesn't matter; characters in epics and in modern films, like The Avengers, are always up for a long and formal speech. These can occur in the middle of a battlefield, as the slaughter rages on all sides, or in the middle of a meeting of leaders, where you'd certainly expect them.

In the Iliad, many heroes from both armies, such as Agamemnon, Hektor, Odysseus, and many more have had long inspiring speeches that kept their soldiers going. One example would be Odysseus' speech in Book 2, motivating the troops to keep fighting after a failed attack on the Trojans. In the Avengers films, Captain America, as the team's leader, never forgets to say a few lines before a battle and motivate the rest of the Avengers to fight and to remind them what they are fighting for. The attached video clip is of Captain America's "pep talk" before the Avengers' time travel mission, in an attempt to collect the infinity stones.

These long, formal speeches serve a great yet small purpose, to remind the troops of their goal, the reason why they are fighting in the first place. In a place void of hope, such as war, people need a bit of inspiration that will keep them going.

EPIC DIGRESSIONS: THE ASSEMBLE OF STORIES IN AVENGERS

Just like illiad, Avengers also created spark in the life of those who started watching their movies. The Directors of the movie successfully captured the attention of Marvel fans because of the roller coaster ride of emotion that it gives to its viewers. From laughter to wiping your tears, shocked, angry, happy, satisfied and so on.

In all four series of Avengers, they successful build up the story by letting the watchers get curious and connect the dots while watching the four series of movie that eventually leads to the conclusion of the story. This way, epic digression is present because the Director gave small plots that are important in understanding the movie including its characters and their relevance in the story. They were able to create a good story of "The Avengers" and connecting it to each character by giving a snippet of their lives in all four movies.

They successfully provided background information about the characters within the movie, connect it to the story, established interest for the watchers, and eventually add suspense on what will happen next. This type of story and art in filming is aligned with how Iliad was created because throughout reading Book 1 to 18, we are given situations where we slowly get to see how each character acts and feel toward certain situations that eventually leads up to the next event in the story. The flow of the story leaves us curious on what could possibly happen next which makes the epic interesting and one of a kind that will surely be remembered by many.
