“Get over it? What are you talking about, Ruth? Listen, I’m going to be a doctor. I’m not worried about who I’m going to marry yet – IF I ever get married.”. In this quote you can see how she doesn't care what other people are saying about who she should marry. She Wants to become a doctor nothing and nobody is going to stop her from becoming a doctor. Everybody in her family thinks she should just marry George and she should just be a nurse like any other girl. She doesn't want to do that she wants to work for what she gets.

I’m going to be a doctor and everybody around here better understand that!”(p. 50). In this quote Beneatha is saying how George is kinda making fun of he dream of becoming a doctor. She is done with people telling her she can't become a doctor and its worse because she is supposed to be dating this guy. She is aggravated that everybody doesn't want her  to follow her dreams they just want her to marry a rich white guy. Beneatha works so hard to become a doctor and that's really an inspiration . Everybody is against her but she continues despite everyone else. She is determined to become a doctor and nobody can tell her different. That's what makes her the best and who I feel the most sympathetic towards. Beneatha Feels this way she feels like she has to be two different people at times. One side is her in her natural self she has her curly hair. This side shows her trying to be herself but this is also the side everybody is against her being. Everybody prefers her to be the right side. In the story Beneatha was told by Mama that she was going to give her money to help her with college. What happens is that Mama gave all the money to Walter and he gave it all to his friend but he stole it so she had no money for collage. So the line "nothing in this world was promised or belonged to you anyway all you own is yourself." This is so close to Beneatha because she had no control over what her brother did with the money. She only has control over herself.

She is struggling a lot with becoming a doctor. Like the song says in lines 10-17 shes always going to have a problem with becoming a doctor and even when she faces that problem there's always going to be another. She also realizes that it's not about worrying about the problems its about the destination. Also in lines 3-6 it says " no i'm not breaking i may not know it but these are the moments that i'm going to remember most". Their was a lot of people trying to bring her down one example is when Walter says “Who the hell told you you have to be a doctor? If you so crazy ‘bout messing ‘round with sick people—then go be a nurse like other women—or just get married and be quiet…” (38). You can obviously see how she was told to just go marry someone rich or just to be a nurse because its easier. She never wanted to do that she wanted to work for her own money. She is never going to give up she knows what she wants and nobody is going to stop her from getting it.
