I think this is an interesting discussion. I like to study with group and exchange ideas with them. It helps me know many new ideas and understand the topic deeper. However, sometimes group discussion is less efficient. I always confuse background information with the thesis statement. Background information is more general while the thesis statement is more specific.

The introduction could be written first or after the rest of the article is finished. I prefer to write it at last because the outline would be clear after I finish other parts of the essay. A good introduction should move from general to specific information. Most importantly, I need to pay attention to my thesis statement.
