It was an information dense session this afternoon. It was also excellent in terms of sensitization about issues in assessement, many of them I had not previously considered. My takeaways are (1) the difference between measurement and evaluation, (2) the importance of congruity between design of assessment instruments, LOs, reliability and validity, and (3) issues around teachers' unconscious bias at play in assessment. Thank you Dr Hill.

Honestly, I'm so overwhelmed with work that I can't even remember my 3 hour attendance. It's just been 7 days a week non-stop for weeks. There was something about the problems we have with assessment and that assessments can be designed better. There were many concerns about the applicability of these new ways of assessment given the extremely large classes and very limited resources that we work with. I'm really not sure about the point of all this effort we put in, when the majority of students don't seem to put any effort at all.... (just saw my first coursework exam results...worse ever.) In need of more encouraging posts than my own...
