Caliban protests this abuse and his enslavement (rightfully so), but Prospero calls him an ungrateful liar and reminds him of the education he tried to give Caliban. Caliban then responds that he only knows how to be wicked and lie because of this education. Prospero does not like this, and he sends him to fetch firewood under threat of more cramps and aches if he is not obeyed.
