DH, as we affectionately called her, was my AP Calculus teacher in high school. She always started class by opening up the room for us to share anything and everything. Our class became so close by starting each day this way. DH was also the teacher that we would all go to whenever we needed help, to talk, or just to chat. She was such an inspiration!!
-RaeAnn

She was dedicated, kind and super supportive. I later had her sister Mrs. Nelson as my 3rd grade teacher. That family was amazing. Such wonderful and positive women. Now it's hard to find me without a book in my hand - Becky

We formed small groups and made and edited videos about topics of our choice. The 50 students were able to be vulnerable and honest because of the community those two teachers built and allowed us to build.
-Annalise

I took every class that Mrs. C offered at my high school. She encouraged me to challenge myself in all tasks, simple or complex. She allowed a lot of choice in her classes. She would set some guidelines and let the students find creative ways to achieve goals and targets. If we wanted to pursue an idea, she supported it. I became her T.A. my senior year, and I loved my time with her. She was always willing to answer my questions and take the time to help with projects I was tasked with. I told her that I would love to have her job when she retired. She was a high school technology teacher. She came to my wedding. I still call her Mrs. Cartwright, and she still calls me Robert.

My college roommate, a music major, and I challenged each other to take a class from each other's major (mine was English) . I had no music training and had to sing a solo note the first night of women's chorale practice! When the director pointed to me, no noise came out except knees knocking from fear. Rich was so friendly and helped us relax while he played the notes on the piano. He joked with and encouraged everyone to relax and just make a sound. Each person sang a solo note or two! Rehearsals were fun and Rich got to. know each student and treated the rookies and music majors equally. At the end of the semester we all sang solos at recital hour. The next year, on choir tour to England, everyone wanted pictures and dinners with Rich, he was so much fun!
