There are two types of IUDS: Copper and hormonal. Copper IUD releases copper into the uterus to prevent getting pregnant. They do not protect against STIs. Hormonal IUDs release the hormone progestin and makes it more challenging for sperm to reach the egg therefore preventing pregnancy.
