I have always had a strong passion for teaching children, but I thought I would pursue a career in the nursing field. It wasn't until high school that I decided that maybe it was time to sit down and decide what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I knew that I loved working with little kids and thought Elementary Education was a perfect fit. When I attended New Tech (my high school) I was able to take college classes and started with the general pre-reqs. Finishing the semester of my JR year, I was able to shadow different grade levels and decided I wanted to teach highschoolers instead of little kids!

I have always known that my heart is with the little kids, but with the teachers I had in high school and their impact on me, that made me feel as if I needed to be those teachers for the future students I have. When I got to the U of A, I was already set and stone with education- I just didn't know what subject I wanted to teach. Last semester, I finally decided that I wanted to be a Spanish teacher. Going into this semester, I am finishing my Jr year majoring in Spanish education and I have no second thoughts about it. My heart is happy with this choice!

My end goal is to be a Principal, but I need classroom experience first, which I am okay with, of course (and have to be LOL). I think I would do super well being a principal. I went to an innovative PBL school and just really enjoyed the structure there. I have always had a passion for leading people, or being a bigger "more focused" role in education, and I think that position for me is perfect. I haven't thought about what location, but my goal is to hopefully make it to some innovative school here in NWA.
