I imagined her as an intimidating knight on-duty but a sleezy/ overconfident/ unassuming drunkard off-duty. Just a bunch of loose sketches/ doodles to try to portray how I see the character in my head. Obviously this personality isn't set in stone, I'd love to hear you guys' thoughts and discuss as a group about fleshing in personalities for all of the characters on Thursday :)

Bard Protag Sketches

I wasn't sure what sort of backstory/ gender they'd have so I drew two mock-ups of different versions. I imagined a half-elf male, typically aloof kinda bad at what he does but has the looks and charm to make it through and his previous band kicked him out for not really trying. And then I also thought of a dwarf female who works in the tavern where the karaoke takes place. Maybe she wants to be a good musician but her family holds her back since it's a family-owned tavern and they want her to take over the business?? She's tried to pursue music before but most people see her height and kiddy insttruments and turn away even though she's super proficient in said instruments. (Each character has a different interpretation of the discussion we had where either they're tragic at music or god-like with bad instruments).

Wanted to experiment with how different classes, species, jobs and places would have their cups and taverns be different. Let’s say more plant related species like fairy’s would use molded plants and flowers for cups. As well as alchemists using potion bottles to make exaggerated drinks

Stuff will be added when I start rendering such as more glowing moss and other things but this is the base I have so far, this background I think would be used of the characters walking through the swampy area to get to a tavern

After seeing Katie's swamp background sketch, I wanted to draw up a little mock-up design of what that area's tavern could look like. All aspects are up to discussion and I'd like to hear you guys' input on what materials the building should be. (For some of the walls i used a brick-like material but I'm not sure on that, perhaps needs to be changed to wood??) I will also draw up some floor layout sketches for this design. I added some sparkies to the surrounding area (maybe fairies or fireflies to add some magic like Katie's designs incorporated). Looking forward to hearing your thoughts :)

I went very overboard with the cat-inclusive furniture and things. I imagined the tavern owner to be a cat lover with taxidermised cat wall decor. Maybe she has a cat right now and there is a shelf on the wall with that cat's name displayed on it as a strange/ deranged sort of preparation for the next cat's taxidermy? I realised part way through that the decorations and stuff are less swamp-like and more cosy/ antique? I imagined the tavern owner just turned her house into a tavern for business so all of these designs are ready to be discussed. Maybe better suited for another location's tavern, etc. Hope you guys are all well :)

Fire dragon concepts

For the fire dragon I went with more traditional looking dragons for two of the sketches. Then for the one with blue colouring I had an idea of fire scales where anything they touched turned into flames with his spines lighting up into fire when angry. And for the dragon up top it’s more of a lava dragon that would spit flowing lava onto things

For the ice dragons I wanted them to be a lot sharper shape wise having scales that looked more like thick armour plates. For one I used the ice theme to give them frosted ice horns that look half melted. I also decided to try an idea of a fluffy ice dragon kind of how seals have fluffy fur when they are young for warmth and protection as well as giving them anger shapes horns

so. I was going to originally do the beginning scene, but thinking it over, I think I'm going to do the protags facing against formica (the ant man band.) to sum it up, the two of them will walk onto the stage and just see a few stray ants and look at eachother in confusion. then the ants start to assemble and create Anthony (clever naming right?~) and they look absolutely and utterly gobsmacked. anthony would give them a smug grin and start to shred on his guitar, then the fight starts! the camera would cut between them until antonys hands start to fall apart and he admits defeat, the protags moving on in the competition. just putting this here incase I am dead tomorrow as it is 3:30

Void/ eclipse dragon concept

Wanted to try a more different element of dragon besides the typical fire, ice and plant. Basing these two off of voids and black holes. I will be doing some dragon breath tests after this to see what damage it’ll do for the backgrounds

With each dragon concept being different I did 4 different options for their breath attacks based off that. The fire dragon has two colours of fire since blue is hotter than the typical orange. The ice dragon has a very spickey sharp breath as it’s forming ice on whatever it hits. With the eclipse dragon their breath is a literal blazing eclipse that could form mini black holes in whatever it hits

For my personal choice of dragon I went with the fluffy ice dragon, I wanted their design to look slim and stuck up as if they are “too good for music”

I tried colouring her hair in a blonde-ish colour, however I felt the brown better suited the colour palette of the overall design. I am happy to change it back to blonde though!! It could've been an issue with what shade I was using as I originally went for a more sandy than brilliant. I assumed the knight is coming from a more common background. I'm looking forward to you guys' feedback and critiques!!

So I may have gone a little far ahead but I wanted to have a animatic done for Monday so the scene I chose was the battle of the bands is going on in a twin shown by the lights as the camera pans to inside a cave, the cave would be covered in broken instruments as the dragons steps on one slowly coming out of the shadows and it’s huffs in

annoyance at the music.

I can make changes if needed if anyone has any feedback
