Have students fold a piece of paper with their name and put it on their desk. One side has their name with a pronunciation, and the other side has things that interest them.

Leave a section of the wall for students to leave pictures/notes of things they are grateful for. Once a week, devote time to allowing the students to show who/what is important to them.

Greetings at the door

Greet them by name when they walk in. You may have a specific greeting, do a temperature check every day (feeling good/bad), or allow the student to choose how to greet you (handshake, hello, high five, elbow bump)

Pick 5 kids and focus on them. Ask yourself if you've had conversations with them and what you know about them.

If a student is bothering you, ask yourself what they may be going through and try to see it from their perspective to be able to take the behavior less personally.
