It was filled with so many hopes and dreams

Broken promises about years to come

Of all the things she thought I would achieve

Reading through it I felt unfulfillment

Were there really this many broken dreams?

Did she really think all this could be done?

I guess it could have if not for the war

She had no idea of today’s world

Had no idea the struggles we face

I doubt she would have survived it at all

And that is why she had to become me

Sometimes I see her in my reflection

That’s rare and it’s still only fragments

She is left far behind in the old world

Very often I wish to join her there

Reread the letter, try to remember

The letter was dated 5 years ago

That was only one year before the war

She could never imagine the horror
