These sub-genres attract different audiences. However, I believe that there is room for both of these sub-genres. These different representations allow tourist to experience musical diversity and welcomes all ages.

First song
New school
fast
explosive
Energetic
Repetition

Second song
Old school
Has different instruments
Rake n scrape
Catchy beat
Repetition
Third song
According
European and African culture

The first difference comes in the instruments. Seeing that back in the day they would've used instruments they made by hand, however, nowadays we used keyboards that have different instrument sounds installed into them. Also, they used raw rake n scrape, on the other hand, we can now record the rake-n-scrap sound and alter the sound or pitch
to make it sound like whatever the lyrics are and how the person is feeling in the song. The impact that organic old generation of Bahamian music would be more of an impact on tourist, and Bahamians more than ever because on the other hand new gen Bahamian music doesn't sound as Bahamian because now a lot of Bahamians are getting into soca and sound more different Caribbean countries and Americans instead of following into the footsteps of the original style of Bahamian music.
The second difference comes in the content. What I mean by that is the old music videos they would make would be more traditional to the Bahamian culture, now they make it more of a foreign feeling of being who they truly are. They keep it based on the lyrics and show what the music video is talking about, however, now they just make a lot of their videos by the water and just sing with no context to what the song is actually about. I feel like the old Bahamian music again would impact people more than new school music because the new school doesn't make any sense everyone does the same music only some artists make different music videos.
The third difference comes in pace. Seeing that the pace of music back then was way faster then it is now whereas they use more of a mellow slow sound with Bahamian music. They would use the rake n scrape pace which was more of a fast pace beat and now they use slower beats with the same rake n scrape so they alter it depending on they choice of feeling in the song. In see that the impact of both can be great it depends on the type of person that would either like slower or faster pace bahamian song.

Both songs use instruments however new school Bahamian music utilizes a more fabricated and manufactured sound as opposed to old-school Bahamian music which uses raw and wholesome instruments that incorporate saws, skin drums, and the accordion. Both songs can fall under the same bracket but are often attracted to different audiences. For example, a more reserved audience might tend to lean towards old-school Bahamian music for a more intimate atmosphere. Modern-day Bahamian music would be longed for by the younger generation because of the relatability that is normalized more often. The instruments can play a huge role in how the crowd sees it, Modern day music can be more diversified to foreigners whereas the music is still Bahamian but can also be made for various ears. When it comes to the rake n’ scrape the diversity is still consistent when a tourist wants the authentic Bahamian feel something that can be specific to Bahamian culture.

Modern-day Bahamian music and old school also differ in technology. Modern-day technology is more revolutionized causing the song to have a cleaner sound and more production, unlike the more dated music which is shown to be more live and in the moment. Both songs do not hinder the quality of the song but receive benefits because of the different generations. Modern-day Bahamian music uses electronic devices for music creation which can take away the authenticity which is why old-school Bahamian music is adored by the masses.

In addition, both songs have similar paces but can be significantly different. Old-school music is paced for carnival and junkanoo occasions whereas modern-day Bahamian music can be played for daily enjoyment or parties. Both songs are upbeat however the more mature Bahamian music allows you to dance and let your hair down as the song plays. As we hear both songs, you can see that modern-day Bahamian music is more heavy, loaded & dark where the need to be freed is the center of the message, whereas the older music is light-hearted and cheerful.

New School Bahamian
"Loose me" "let me go" expresses wanting freedom
Is more studio processed

The variance of new and old comes with the technology. Anyone with ears can hear the cleaner sound of the newer music, versus the more authentic sounding saw and comb of old music. Lassie doh sounds very different compared to the "loose me" song even though they're paced practically the same. This is because the newer song is more processed in the studio, meanwhile, the newer song has a more "international sound". The old sound may seem "out of style" for those of us who are hear it day in and day out but to the millions of tourists who come its a once in a lifetime experience.

One that makes and wanna get up and dance and the other that pings at a place in our heart. This means that the way Bahamian music is made is very important. Some songs may use instruments that can be found around the home, a screw and saw. Whereas other songs are produced in studios with a more modern take. The older generation are more keen to the rustic feel of the music, it may seem more "authentically Bahamian" . Because that may seem boring to you, the younger generation may gravitate to the more modern and western flavor. The "new and improved" Bahamian sound is more accessible and attainable but when compared to the older music these can only be seen live on heard on some buried radio channel.

These two songs “loose me” and “mama don’t like no rappin’ and scrappin’ in here” are similar, due to both songs’ origins, and genre, but are indifferent because of their pace, instrument, technology, and timeline. Song’s one pace seems to be relative to the dances that are most perform to this song, which are dances that most edges to the female style of dance. While song’s two pace seems relative to a more wild/frantic body movement. Pace is everything to a song's popularity, imagine listening to both songs with a pace of 5x speed, it changes the dances performed to them, the people who listen to them, and also the sound of future music.

Instruments are what make the music “music”, even the most background low-frequent sound in an instrumental can make the biggest improvements. Song’s one instrument are more modernized than song two’s music, with song one’s music being made in the late 90s. this dosen't change the fact of their popularity, surprising isn’t it! Song one’s song had the basic tools (instruments) that a 5yr old kid would have if he’d only had a $50 budget for instruments. Song to is advance and gives of an early 2000s feel; it’s volume, lyrics, and, most importantly, instruments used were giving more maturity than song one, luckily there are people who enjoy both kinds of music, with or without the modern equipment.

Technology is used in many songs today. The most notable ones are auto tune, sound suppression, booths for isolating voices and sounds. Song one is a late bloomer to these advancements. Song one has it’s technology like, altering the tones of the instruments, the booth seemed like it was use because of the ratio consisting with the noise of the instruments, and alters to the singer’s voice. Song two seemed simple in it’s approach to modifying anything; it was raw and volatile, seems Bahamian to me. The complexity of music had and has no dividing line to it’s popularity, sure it’s unfair to the simple projects made; it’s tuffer to make a simple song so popular, but that’s just what you get for oublishing a “simple” song.. Both songs are great and are different in their amounts of technology, but it’s amusing seeing as though a drum made from goat skin can be on par with songs that use synthesizers and artificial sounds.

You were born in the late 90s and experience song one, most likely, songs resembling song one would appeal more to you, same goes for song two vice versa. From Stevey wonder to Joji, old music still has impact to this day. Song one and song two are no different, their appeal to their audience, their influence on they’ve made, and the reason there are such great songs. Song two was made in a time where conservativism was synonymous to not eating all your greens during dinner time. Song one seems to be created in a time when wearing crop tops and shorts were accepted more in the west. Timeline has been appropriate to music; this is because music isn’t “advancing” it’s “adapting”.

In conclusion, song one and two are different, but…. the same. From the instruments used, the technologies implemented, and the timeline that at which both were made. Differentiating from the two is justifiable in lots of ways, but they express the same interpretations to many people. Both songs are great and deserve recognition for their differences, music like these are why Bahamian music thrives.
