Peter thought his father’s hunting guns were so cool that he wanted to show Josie. He knew where his father kept the key for the safe with the guns, making the safe not so safe. He was then ripped away from his only friend because of it and was only able to see her during school.

Josie knew that the reason no one liked her was because she was the only person hanging out with the “weird kid” but when Peter wasn’t there everyone likes Josie and talked to her. She thought if she was friends with the popular kids she can keep them from being mean to Peter all together.
