They have 3 main functions. One, answer questions and provide ethics training to new House members and employees. This includes; receiving gifts, travel, campaign and financial disclosure. This Select Committee wrote the Space Act, which was signed into law on July 29, 1958, and established the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the permanent House Committee on Science and Astronautics, the forerunner of the present Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.
