1.1. Why is math unpopular?

I teach in a primary school and, generally speaking, my pupils don't have trouble understanding maths in the beginning of their education. We learn thruough games starting from what they know and what they excperienced. But, as the grades are higher, they start to have difficulties in problems solving tasks because it requires abstract thinking. Maths isn't something they can learn without practicting and conecting what they learned in previous grade.

That's why I often use educational games in my lessons. They like animation and videos so I use it to get my pupils motivated. Working in small groups (up to 4 children per group) they can exchange ideas, they can brainstorm together, and they like that kind of class activites. Although they are working in groups the are perceptive of other working groups. They like sudoku, kakuru, tangram but what they like the most are math competitions in class.
