There is a danger of censorship including the repression of personal expression. When people are told they cannot do certain things, especially a group of people, it can cause divides and new, negative social “norms” in society. These things, when known can seem comfortable and safe to people, causing censorship to be welcomed in society.

"Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression. This right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers." (Peter Mcdonald).

As this source explains, the freedom to hold an opinion and express yourself cant be taken away. When you censor people, that is what you are doing.

"There's a real culture being built up through some of these dress codes where girls are receiving very clear messages that male behavior, male entitlement to your body in public space is socially acceptable, but you will be punished." (Rowena Lindsay).

"There`s dew on the grass in this morning. He suddenly couldnt remember if he had known this or not. And it made him quite irritable." (Bradbury)

In this quote, things that seem so simple such as dew on the grass are forgotten by the main character Montag. This is also true for our society, for basic things such as the importance of personal expression. This quote shows that if we get used to thinking a certain way (social norms and the act of censorship), we will forget the importance of basic things, like the freedom to express yourself.

"And they'll be happy, because facts of that sort don't change. Don't give them any slippery stuff like philosophy or sociology to tie things up with. That way lies melancholy. " (Bradbury)

Bradbury explains a society comfortable being left in the dark, where they don't have to deal with questioning. This is the same kind of censorship our society faces when we tell people to "play it safe" with creativity or personal expression.

The first picture illustrates how society censors itself. The second picture shows how we fight that. When we go back to the basics of knowing we have freedom to express ourselves, all the other labels can't divide our society.

If a society is being censored, it is teaching its citizens that it is preferred to always go with what is taught to you, and not think or do things on your own.

In school systems, there is a huge controversy dealing with dress code. This is a real world example of the censorship explained. Many claim that it causes a divide between genders and teaches girls that they should play it "safe", when it comes to expressing themselves in the form of clothes, in fear of being a "distraction". Is this what we want to teach society.

As told in Fahrenheit 451, book burning is also a real world thing that societies around the world do or have done. This is the government`s way of feeling "comfortable" or "safe" about their citizens, just as a school system does with their dress code.
