The ninth and tenth commandments of computer ethics go hand in hand, and I think they are the two that most often get violated by students. Most high school and college students have not reached their full maturity potential. Young people tend to gravitate towards the continuously developing internet. The interactions that take place on social media between students and their peers are for the most part positive, but not that's not always the case. I think that all people abuse the anonymity that the internet creates, but especially the younger generation tends to use it for unethical and potentially harmful reasons like bullying.

People tend to hurt other people on the internet because it's easy to dissociate from it. Social media bullies feel comfortable posting hateful things about people they may or may not even know because they aren't face to face with that person. They feel comfortable that no one will know who they are and use the internet as a shield.
Social media is definitely a breeding ground for hateful comments. Because the internet is dividing the two people, it's impossible for the bully to see the kind of effect their words are having on the other person, in turn creating an endless cycle.

Unfortunately, I'm not all that confident that there can be anything done to eliminate internet trolls, I have a feeling they'll always be around. However, if I try to think positive, a way to reduce the amount of them is to teach Computer Ethics in the classroom. Show students the kind of impact their harmful words can really have on others and hope they take it to heart.
Another idea could be to teach students how to deal with social media hate. Since we can't get rid of the trolls, we might as well learn how to avoid and ignore them.
