“Additionally, it found that cognitive empathy plays a vital role in lessening the hostile cognition associated with trait anger, specifically the first information processing steps.”

The quote can be used to explain how feeling empathy can reduce anger. In order to lessen anger, cognitive empathy is used. It’s an inverse relationship which defends the argument that anger and empathy are opposites.

The graph shows how the best way to deal with anger is through empathy. As seen in the survey, it shows that in a study done in the workplace empathy is seen as the best solution for anger and can be used to counter it. According to the graph, more than 50% of people in the workplace use empathy in order to resolve anger. The overwhelming amount of people that use empathy easily outweighs the amount of people that use other ways to deal with anger. This goes to show that empathy has worked time and time again to be a good solution for anger, as so many people use it in the workplace.

How Your Life Is Shaped by the Emotions You Want to Feel

"With all these complications in mind, how can you ensure that your emotional goals are serving you well and that you’re able to achieve them?...""...Pause to think about your desired feelings when you make decisions, since research suggests that we enjoy activities more when they match our emotional goals...."
These excerpts show the vast complications about emotions. Emotions and feelings are really complicated, and to find resolve for them (including anger), it can't be as simple as saying "calm is the opposite of anger", because that makes emotions too simple. Instead, something like empathy, which requires vast under standing, including of one's self. Thus, empathy would be the real opposite of anger, for it forces one to understand themselves, unlike "calmness", which undermines and oversimplifies emotions.
