In this weeks Padlet we will be taking a closer look at repetition as we think we know it. In general we often consider repetition as a sound that does not change over and over. In music, repetition is a diverse rhythm you hear over the course of a song. This form of repetition can be found throughout all kinds of music. It is an important musical element through all kinds of music because it 1) brings a complexity to a song and 2) is a large part in attracting a listeners ear. As far as Ratliff's arguments regarding this musical element, I would have to agree. I believe this element is a needed, complex, and essential part of music. In Ratliff's playlist he list James Brown's "Aint it Funky now". In this piece you hear the repetition of the various horns through the entire song. A more modern example would be Bryson Tiller's "Sorry Not Sorry. Here you can hear the repetition of the horn sounding noise as heard throughout the song.
