I've been at curran for three years. Im 13 years old. I've always had good grades. I'm the Mediator because every project i've done, people come to me for help and I always end up leading the group. I could binge watch a whole show in one day. And I can eat a lot of food. I've never been dress coded but i've seen people get dress coded. I can listen to people and what they have to say. I can people with a lot of things.

My name is Stephanie and i've been attending curran for 2 years. Curran Middle School is a great school. I am the recorder because I have experience with typing more professionally, and passing good information to students. The past 2 years at curran have been great for me, I'm a good listener to people, and can help whenever they need it. 

Hey my is Andrea, I have been here at Curran for 3 years. I have been dress coded for the whole time. Dress code here at curran is difficult and rarely makes any sense. Girls and boys get dress coded everyday but i see girls getting dress coded more than boys. I am the speaker because i'm good at explaining things

1. showing lots of skin is very unprofessional for school 

2. Wearing boxers to school

3. Wearing very inappropriate logos

4. Wearing shirts that look like a bra

5. See through shirts

6. Shorts that are actually really shorts

7. Sagging to your knees 

8. Wearing gang related stuff.

9.  Wearing non suitable shoes for PE

To remove the dress code or make it less strict

     We think that unless a students clothes are extremely inappropriate, students should not be dress coded. For example, if students are wearing clothes that barely show anything, wearing a hat, or if they are wearing a logo that is “bad”, most of the time it's unfair when they get dress coded for that. Many kids at schools express who they are through style, and dress codes stop that freedom of expression. Another example is shoes, a lot of kids everyday get in trouble at school because of their shoes. 

     Many kids think that if they bring another pair of suitable shoes for P.E, then it should be okay as long as they have back up. Even though many of the teachers and staff say “you can hurt yourself because of those shoes”, people get hurt everyday even with the proper shoes. They get hurt running to make it to class on time, playing a sport like basketball or football, or maybe even just walking. People can get hurt no matter what. We just think that the dress code os unfair for many reasons

Yes, dress code may take advantage of students to wear whatever they want, but at least students can feel comfortable, this way they can express themselves by not worrying about saying what they cant or can wear.

Students will probably not have other spare clothes they can wear because they either can't afford it, parents cant drop off clothes, or dont have suitable clothing.

           Saying “yes” to no dress code means people can have the freedom to dress however they want. It means kids will stop getting in trouble for little things. Even though we are against dress code, it would be reasonable to tell a kid to cover up of they are coming to school with practically nothing on or exposing themselves. We do think that wearing what you want is okay, but sometimes it can be too much if you are just exposing yourself so much to the point where you have to get dress coded even if the rule is gone. I think having no dress code would impact the school very much because the students will most likely agree. Many kids wear what they want but don't care, and other kids do care what they wear because they are scared to get dress coded. So having no dress code at all or making it less stricter would most likely be better for the student that go here.

     People at curran should feel comfortable in what they want to wear, and have the chance to express themselves. School isn't for fashion, yes, but it's what makes the students be themselves. We believe that no teacher or staff should tell students to change what they feel comfortable in, because what if our parents cant drop off clothes, and we all know that nobody wants to wear the curran merchandise that everyone wears. Also people don't want to wear what they don't want to wear because again, its their body and you can't control it, but to understand they don't want to wear it because they have freedom. We understand that wearing whatever you want can lead to disaster with everyone showing lots of skin and sagging too much, or inappropriate logos because half of the stores that students go to have gang related or inappropriate things on t-shirts, hoodies, pants, etc. 

     James Curran middle school was built around 1960. A fact about dress code is that it was officially a law in 1969, and is still being used today.
