Can hear the gospel in Franklin's singing and through this song. Distinct rhythm, drums, piano, backup singers, and mid song is when the horns are prominent. Has blues sound but modern instrument/pop/soul feel to it.

Lead singer, backup singers, drums, guitars, and the horns like trumpets. Very upbeat but the intro reminded me of jazz with the trumpet and drum sound and the sad tone to it even though the song isn't sad. Lots of modern instrument and structure in this song, the genre funk reminds me of dancing and groove terms, and this song seems like a very funk and dance type of song with past music influence from blues.

Listening to this song and the previous song, I am noticing blues, pop, and gospel mixing. There's a lead singer, drums, guitar, backup singers, and the occasional background loud jazzy trumpets and band instruments. Lot of instrument and mixed rhythm and song structure happening and the instruments make this song more modern sounding in terms of technology or classic music comparisons.

"Thank You Falettinme Be Mice Elf Again" - Sly and the Family Stone (Funk)

The twang of the guitars in this song are very distinct and I personally feel like this technique or way of making the guitar have that twang with the /blues/pop/rock/gospel mix really defines funk. Lead singer and background singers, drums, guitars, and the occasional trumpets and band instruments. Noticing the rock and the twang are similar so maybe funk has more rock/blues/gospel influence, but maybe depends on the type of band.

"I Have Nothing" - Whitney Houston (Urban Contemporary/Dance)

Very slow and emotional sounding song, I can hear the softer 80's soul in this song. Lead singer Whitney has powerful vocals and range since the song changes in tone a lot, a keyboard/piano in the back with some drums and violins, giving me some reference to blues in a way. The keyboard/piano distinctively sounds very 80's since that time period introduced or relied a lot on that specific instrument or sound with the keyboards/synthesizers.

More upbeat but has the emotionally striking/hip-hop/pop/dance tones in it. Lead singer, some occasional background singers and twang of disco/funk in the guitar, soul feel, drums, violins, and some trumpets/band instruments at some points. Chorus and rhythm but tone of song progressively changes from the beginning to the ending part being slightly higher in pitch.
