         <description><![CDATA[<div>1 Community College: Midland College<br>Nearby University: University of Texas at the Permian Basin (Odessa, Texas)<br><br>5 High Schools: Midland High, Legacy High, Coleman High, Midland Christian, Early College High School<br><br>2 Freshman Schools: Midland Freshman &amp; Legacy Freshman<br><br>4 Junior High Schools: Abell JH, Goddard JH, San Jacinto JH, and Alamo JH<br><br>25 Elementary Schools<br><br>2020 Grades 9-12 Graduation Rate-89.7%<br>2020 Grades 9-12 Dropout Rate-7.7%<br>(Texas Education Agency, 2021, p. 14)<br><br>According to The Texas Tribune (2022) Midland ISD had 25,551 students and 56.4% were considered to be at risk of dropping out during the 2020-2021 school year.<br><br>In addition, the TEA (2021) report found that 299 students were homeless, 622 were immigrants, and 14,401 were at risk (p. 24).<br><br>Other statistics to know are that 3,563 students were bilingual or taking ESL classes, 1,166 were gifted or talented, and 2,032 were in special education classes (TEA, 2021, p. 24).<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Rays of Hope: Children's Grief Center<br></strong>This non-profit organization aims at teaching healthy coping skills and mechanisms for vulnerable children. They specifically help children aged 5-18 years going through foster care, divorce, or grief. They also offer a support group for grieving parents/guardians.<br><mark>Website:https://hospiceofmidland.org/rays-of-hope/</mark><br><br><strong>Casa de Amigos<br></strong>"Helping people, help themselves" is the motto of this non-profit organization. They provide the community with necessary resources and offer adult and youth education, health and wellness services, as well as social and senior services (Casa de Amigos, n.d.). Some examples of services provided are GED classes, tutoring for school aged children, diabetes support group, and home cleaning for low income elderly clients (Casa de Amigos, n.d.).<br><mark>Website:https://www.casadeamigosmidland.org/<br><br></mark><strong>PermiaCare</strong><br>Formerly known as Permian Basin Community Centers, the aim of this organization is to help people live their best lives. They provide services for mental health issues, intellectual and developmental disability issues, substance abuse, veterans issues, and those affected by HIV (PermiaCare, n.d.). <br><mark>Website:https://www.pbmhmr.com/<br><br></mark><strong>Spectrum of Solutions<br></strong>Formerly known as MARC, their aim is to empower people who live with intellectual or developmental disabilities within the community and advocate.
