I believe students mostly violate the commandment that “Thou shalt not copy or use proprietary software for which you have not paid.” I believe this because many students are able to share online resources with other students or previous students to benefit them. There are many types of resources to use especially now that students can get away with using something without paying for it.

I think these violations occur because students often don’t realize or consider the consequences of their actions. In many cases, there are no immediate consequences. For example, a student might download a textbook instead of purchasing it from the official source and face no penalty at first. However, violations like plagiarism can lead to serious consequences. Many students assume they won’t get caught, and this false sense of security is often why these violations happen in the first place.

To reduce or eliminate such unethical behavior we can promote awareness and education to the ones who are not sure what to do in situations like this. Doing this is the best way for students to learn about what is right and what is wrong. Schools should have events and workshops where students are able to work one on one in fixing these issues and finding better solutions to them.
