This artwork is called On The Wings of Wind(抟风·逍遥), done by Zhuo Mingxuan from VJC. it is made of gouache, watercolor, satin, paper, resin, glass paint, pearl, gold leaf, feathers, alexandrine. The idea of this artwork is that Traditional crafts reflect our rich heritage and culture but they are eroded by modernisation and technological advancements. By assimilating new materials and contemporary themes to resonate with the current world, the beauty of the past can be reinvigorated and shine in the modern light. I like this artwork because it combines the traditional art and modern art in a very beautiful and interesting way.

It appeals to me visually by the artist’s amazing skill of painting and portraying. It also express the idea of youth taking up responsibility to care for the earth in an amusing way. Comparing to other artwork that make me feel gloomy and serious, this one surely stands out.

It is made by 9 Unity Secondary School students by using mixed media. They want to raise people’s awareness on the importance of protecting the environment by this art work. Otters have become one of Singapore's iconic local inhabitants. Through irresponsible discarding of trash, we have caused suffering to these otters as they consume our trash by mistake, suffocate and die. We used actual trash and newspaper to make this sculpture to raise awareness on the importance of sustainability to protect our environment.
I like this piece of artwork not only because of the cute appearance of the otters, but also the message that they want to bring to us. By covering the sea otter's mouth with a bottle cap which depicts that it almost get out of breath, it shows that we really need to pay more attention on the sustainability to protect the environment and start taking actions now.

The masks symbolises the image people create for themselves to show to others, but when out of sight, may do something completely different. This is reflective of our society, where there are people who only do good to create a good public image, but when they have nothing to gain from the process, or they have something to gain from doing the opposite, they may not even hesitate to do it.
