Arrested because of complaints of witchcraft against them. Mrs. Corey has been accused of reading fortunes and Mrs. Nurse of killing Mrs. Putnam's children. Today in the vestry room of the Salem meeting house Mr. Corey, Mr. Nurse, and Mr. Proctor have all gone to place their complaints and defend their wives (Miller 83). Mr. Corey did not do his best job, he has the confirmed to the judge that he does think that his wife has read some weird books (Miller 86). In trying to distract the judge's attention from his confession he gets into more trouble when he tells the judges that a certain person told him that Mr. Putnam was using his daughter against George Jacobs so that he could take his land. After a convicted individual of witchcraft has faced their punishment their land will be put up for auction. Well, Mr. Corey confessed what he knows but does not give names to the court, who he is convicted of contempt of the court (Miller 96). And Mrs. Nurse has been put in jail because Mrs. Putnam believes that Rebecca has killed her children.
