I have chosen to do the ECSE Classroom observation/reflection. I have chosen to do this because I am currently in a field placement for pre-student teaching an want to see what kind of instruments and materials they have or use for ECSE. My question is what materials are teachers using commonly today in a ECSE or regular classroom and what are ones that are more individualized and how do we find those?

Question:

Do classrooms change their approaches each year to make them accessible to new students or use the same approaches each year?

One question I have is, how can I introduce these disabilities that are portrayed in the books to the children?

While I do not have any questions about the project currently, I am excited to be able to see first hand exactly how an ECSE classroom is run and possibly learn more ways to support the children that are in my care while the TC is not in the classroom.

Would you prefer if we did different age groups for the books, or can we focus on one age group?

My question is: Should we include author analysis as well? If the author has any personal experience with the disability?

I decided to do the analysis of 5 picture books because I like to read and write ever since I was in early childhood myself. I've always been fascinated by representative and good characters, settings, and stories that feel real, unique, and honest. Even if it is a simple picture book it could still tell a good story like my favorites growing up Corduroy bear, Barbar, or the Little Prince. So I want to find books that will fascinate children and show them representation and be a good story overall.

My questions I'd ask while analyzing the books would be:

1. How do children’s picture books portray disabled characters through storytelling, characters, and settings—and do these portrayals offer authentic representation or rely on stereotypes?

2. Are disabled characters in picture books represented in both everyday life and imaginative settings (fantasy, adventure, etc.)? Or do we have to focus on only the everyday life kind of stories for our analysis?

My question is how many children's books accurately depict what it is like to have a disability and how can we talk about and help children understand these disabilities through books?

Question: Do these need to be well known books or can i choose any book with a character with a disability?

My primary question for this project is: How do the students' IEPs progress from start to finish? Additionally, how do we identify the correct resources, materials, and any other support necessary to help students achieve success to the best of their abilities?

I have chosen this topic because in the many years I have been teaching preschool I have only seen books with children with disabilities in books about those disabilities. This will be interesting to me because I love being inclusive in the classroom, and researching these books means I will probably buy them and add them to my classroom library.

One question I have is can I keep it preschool related, or is it all ages?

My question is how can we use children's literature to help all children feel included in the classroom?

Question: Are we focusing on a certain type of disability, for example, cognitive or physical? Or are we just looking at disabilities in general?

The question I have is does it have to be realistic pictures (such as with real people) or are illustrated picture books on this topic appropriate as well? :)

I was also wondering if it would be possible to include a video within the PowerPoint, so that I can create a more engaging presentation of the books themselves. With the idea of creating a PowerPoint video presentation, should I set a time limit for how long it should be? Would it be best to keep it under 10 minutes?

My question is "Are there any limitations on what books we choose, or are any books acceptable?"

One question I have is whether I can use Canva to create a presentation? I already have access to it and I am familiar with it.

My question is: Are we allowed to focus on the same age range? I work with 4 year olds so my expertise lies in that age group.

A question I have is how should we handle our time observing ? Are we able to interact with the studenst and host teacher, or should we stick to watching over the daily process.

If I can't find someone in one of the listed roles, can I substitute with a related professional? Like instructional advisor? Center director?

If we record the interview, do you need the voice recording or is that just for me to use when putting in my presentation?

Can the books be online through sources like Epic? Or do they have to be physical copies?

One question: Is it ok if I use two teachers if I only have two teachers to interview? Does it matter if the roles are the same.
