Lighting

Inspiration to buy - When you walk into the store and you see all of the videos of athletes wearing the latest Nike stuff. The customer before they even go to the store have that inspiration. Within the store, there will be posters of ambassadors who represent the brand within different sports like football, running and boxing.

More than what meets the eye. Nike will have their brand message 'Just Do It' throughout the store to constantly put the message of buying a product within the customers head.

Comparison to Tesco would be that Nike try and create a deeper psychological meaning. Tesco create a more direct psychological message to their customers by just bringing the customers to buy the product. Nike try to use their brand slogan and also to use their brand ambassadors to give the customers inspiration to actually buy the product.

Lighting -
The different lighting attracts the customers towards the products and helps to make the products look better. Fitting Rooms will have certain lighting which will make customers look better and make them want them to buy the product.

Vertical and Horizontal Color Blocking - This will be when the aisle will be a certain colour within the aisle. Examples will be all the drinks that have the same colour wrapping or wrapping itself.

Smelling - In certain parts of the store , the supermarkets are scented. This can be from the bakery or from the candles and it automatically makes customers want to see what the smell is coming from. This benefits because it brings an increase in sales.

Comparison To Nike - Tesco use more psychological techniques like smells and also lighting. This is because they sell a variety of products so can use different lighting. Compared to Nike which can't really use techniques like smells. Tesco are more direct and will use more techniques because of the products compared to Nike which can only focus on clothing sand trainers and accessories , not food.

Visual of the latest Nike Technology being used by athletes or in general. They use electrical displays which show videos of the adverts that they have made and also it shows the athletes wearing the products in store. Nike also use 'Endless Aisles' within their stores. This means that if an item is not in store or is out of stock within the store , they can order it in store to either address or store. This gives the customer the satisfaction of never feeling empty handed and like it was not a waste of time going into the store.

Nike also use interactive mirrors within their store which not only utilities space but also leaves a long lasting impression with customers.

Comparison to Tesco -Nike include there adverts into the electronic mirrored displays so that they retain the message that they are constantly trying to give which is go out and just do it. They provide the 'Endless Aisles' which allows the customer to go in and order something to store. They include the adverts on the mirrors to draw attention and to keep the inspiration constantly to customers. Compared to Tesco who mostly use technological techniques to actually promote their products and show offers.

Self Checkouts are used a Tesco's which allows the customers to scan and pay for their own shopping. This gives customers the satisfaction of being independent and also gives customers a quick and convenient service.
Tesco also use techniques like electronic mirrors which vary to show the different type of offers that are on. This is a cheap and efficient way of then making customers aware of the offers on and it also makes customers and drawn to certain products. This helps make new products more known and overall creates an increase in sales.

Comparison to Nike - Tesco use self checkout and more technological techniques when paying for items whereas Nike make sure to actually give the option of looking for a product within store without actually walking around. Both companies use the techniques to give a very quick and efficient service to keep the customers wanting to come back.

This gives the reputation that they want and also gives the customers the push to go and buy a product.

Brand recognition - Tesco will use their brand recognition by making sure their logo is clearly on the carrier bags so people can see where they shop. On their clubcard as well , they always make sure to clearly have Tesco on the products they make and when customers are leaving the store with their products. This benefits them because the customer is made to feel proud about where they shop and will then continue to shop and buy products there. That way , Tesco will always keep their brand recognition and it will only continue to grow.
