He was a very skilled shinobi (ninja) that did everything by himself including unlock his Mangekyo sharingan (a visual prowess that allowed him to have more powers) after he watched his best friend, Shisui, commit suicide in order to ensure his eyes wouldn't be stolen and used by the corrupt government official (Danzo). Later in the show, it was revealed that Itachi slaughtered his clan because they were planning to commit a coup against the government and he made a deal with Danzo that if he killed his entire clan, his little brother, Sasuke, would be spared. When he was 4 years old, Itachi had seen so much war and death, that he tried to kill himself by jumping off a cliff. He who would gather immortal palms must not be hindered by the name of goodness, but you must explore if it be goodness." connects to the lyrics "As they speed through the finish, the flags go down The fans get up and they get out of town The arena is empty except for one man Still driving and striving as fast as he can The sun has gone down and the moon has come up And long ago somebody left with the cup But he's driving and striving and hugging the turns And thinking of someone for whom he still burns" because in both instances, the men talked about are not conforming to the regular or usual way of doing things, but instead going further and doing more to ensure success.
