I am also interested in a research collaboration. I think we need a more extensive body of research literature that is specific to teaching in CSD. I am also interested in competency-based education and I think alternative grading frameworks will be important to making CBE a reality in CSD programs. Excited to meet all of you!

We love the outdoors and enjoy all the seasons Marquette, Michigan, has to offer. We ski, run, bike, hike, swim, and do anything else that gets us outside to enjoy the beauty Marquette has to offer.

2. Students are given helpful, actionable feedback that the student can and should use to improve their learning.

3. Student work doesn't have to receive a mark, but if it does, the mark is a progress indicator toward meeting a standard and not an arbitrary number.

1. In Lab Classes chapter, students can earn tokens for completing an assignment. What are some examples of special assignments that you might incorporate for students to earn tokens?

2. On that same theme, what are some suggestions for how students can use those tokens? from the book, examples included extending time to resubmit an assignment, reopening an assignment for 48 hours, missing a lab.

Phase out tokens as students progress through the program.

Earn tokens by attending a lab related to a class.

Ideas for earning tokens: 1. assigned reading of REALLY important stuff and then have them do a reflection. 2. Attending a lab, but have a firm maximum. 3. Reading quizzes 4. What to use your token for?

1. Reopen an assignment for a set period of time.

2. Extended time for an assignment.

3. Repeat a quiz

It's also challenging when students pit faculty against each other regarding grading practices and late policies. Even more challenging when your colleagues throw you under the bus.

Need more consistency within a program to lessen the mental health swings that come with varying deadlines and workloads. The majority of people need to be on the bus with the practices.
